Brick Floor

These floors are used in the cheap type of construction such as stores, godowns, warehouses, etc. The bricks to be used should be of uniform shape and color and of good quality. It may be brick on edge or flat brick flooring.
The filling over which brick floor is to be laid should be well compacted and leveled carefully, a sub-grade of brickbats is laid and compacted and then watered. Then 10 to 15 cm layer of lean concrete of 1:8:16 is laid. Over this, the bricks are laid in a required pattern. Generally, a herringbone pattern is adopted in cement mortar. The whole surface is cured for a suitable period. The brick floors laid outside are generally grouted with sand and pointed.
These types of floor durable, hard, cheap, non-slippering and can be easily repairable. But it is absorbent. Good quality bricks should be used for its construction.
