BRICK

Bricks are the clay products made artificially of uniform size and shape to be used in the building construction. These are molded in proper size and shape and dried in the sun. These are brunt to make them hard, stronger and durable. Property burnt bricks with uniform size and shape are considered the best material for the wall construction. A good brick earth should be composed of the following:

(a)    Clay or alumina should be between 20 or 30% by weight.

(b)   Silt contents 20 to 35% by weight.

(c)    Silica or sand should not be less than 35 to 50% by weight.

(d)   The other ingredients which should be included in the good earth are Lime, Oxide of Iron, Manganese, Sodium, Potash and Magnesia Oxide. All these should be 1 to 2% by weight.
