Segregation of concrete

It can be defined as the separation of the constituent material of concrete. It may be defined as the breaking of cohesion in a mass of concrete during transportation. If the quality of water in the mix is more, the larger sized aggregates tend to separate thus causing segregation.

Segregation takes place due to -

i)Insufficiently mixed concrete with excess water.
ii)When concrete is discharged from a badly designed mixer or from a mixer.
iii)If the mix is excessively vibrated.
Iv)If immediate working on the concrete on the place without any time intervals.
