Specific gravity & Bulk Density of Aggregate

 Specific gravity:

It is the ratio of the mass of solid in a given volume of a sample to the mass of a canal volume of water at the same temperature.

   Bulk Density :

It is defined as the mass of the material in a given volume and is expressed in kg/liter. The factor affecting the bulk density are particle size, shape the grading of the aggregate and the moist content.

                                                                                      Percentage voids = (GS –Ï’/GS) x100

GS = Specific gravity of the aggregate.
                                                                                          Ï’ = Bulk density in kg/liter.
