Physical tests of concrete & discuss in brief

Physical tests of concrete :

1)Measurement of workability :

Workability is the property of concrete in which determine the amount of useful internal work necessary to produce full compaction. Some following tests are commonly used -

 i)Slump test.
 ii)Compacting factor test.
iii)Flow test.
iv)Very ball test.
 v)Vee-bee test.

2)Segregation test :

It can be defined as the separation of the constituent materials of concrete. A good concrete in which all the ingredients are properly distributed to make a homogeneous mixture.

3)Bleeding test :

Referred to as water gain. It means some water from the concrete comes out to the surface of the concrete.

4)Setting time of concrete :

It differs widely from setting time of cement. Setting time of concrete depends upon W/C ratio temperature condition, use of mineral admixtures, etc.

5)Compaction of concrete :

It is the process adopted for expelling the entrapped air from the concrete.
